Further out, Otranto's Old Town and its mosaic-floored cathedral are a twenty-minute drive, and Lecce's historic centre, with Piazza del Duomo, the Basilica di Santa Croce and its baroque facades, a Roman amphitheatre and boutique shopping, is thirty minutes away, an easy day trip with aperitivo back in Martano's piazza on the way home.
